Bloomingdale is a city in Chatham County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 2,713. It is part of the Savannah Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.3 square miles of which 13.2 square miles is land and 0.1 square miles is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,665 people, 1,001 households, and 752 families residing in the city. The population density was 202.3 people per square mile. There were 1,051 housing units at an average density of 79.8 per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was 91.33% White, 6.30% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.45% Asian, 0.53% from other races, and 0.79% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.24% of the population.
There were 1,001 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.0% were married couples living together, 11.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 20.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.05.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.9% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
